First we all meet at the Float Garage

We form an impressive caravan to the community of the day.
Our Raspberry Van provides a convenient place
for doing hair and makeup. |

Once there, all the parents (well, mostly our dads)
set to
work putting our float together. |
First the cover comes off, is folded, rolled
and stored inside the float |
Each support bar for the cover is removed
and stored under the float
Each "rib" is a different size and must go in the correct order |
The sides are lowered, trims applied, swing assembly raised into place,
front fences put into place, light pole for the merry go round inserted,
flags raised, the float is swept, the lights are tested |

The Onan gas
generator is tested. The generator runs 3,000 lights, the sound system and
the hydraulics for the merry-go-round and teeter totter.

The fully assembled
float is beautiful, and wins a number of awards each year. It is
especially beautiful at night (viewed here at Winter Carnival)

The moms set out a picnic
and snacks
Its time for adjustments; clothes, hair, makeup, banner, jewelry

THEN WE WALK - "Meet and Greet"
This is a good
time for us to thank the people in the community we are visiting, and invite groups to our parade
